The tenth annual Autonomous Snowplow Competition took place on a snowy weekend in January 2020.
Hosted at Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota, this year’s competition saw 10 teams from across North America competing to create the best snowplow that operates autonomously.
For the autonomous snowplow competition, teams from various colleges build a robot from scratch to see which one can most effectively plow snow. SICK was one of the sponsors and a supplier of some of sensor technology used on the autonomous snowplows. The results of the competition were:
- 1st: University of Minnesota, Twin Cities – Snow Squirrel
- 2nd: Dunwoody College of Technology (Wendigo 2020)
- 3rd: Dunwoody College of Technology (Snow Devils 10102)
- 4th: Dunwoody College of Technology (Wechuge 2020)
